Reclaimed Fly-Ash Landfill
Much of the land area south of Lake Lansing Road and west of Chamberlain Drive consists of reclaimed landfill. Although this area is environmentally stable and benign, the clay cap cannot be penetrated and portions of the site have been dedicated for stormwater management purposes. Much of the area to the south and west of the proposed greenway can only accommodate lightweight slab-on-grade buildings, without basements and pilings. Development here should consist mostly of lower-density housing organized around open space features, including an expanded golf course.
